How to Care for a Snug Piercing

Snug piercing aftercare follows the standard cartilage protocol but demands a higher level of consistency and awareness of daily habits than most ear piercings. Clean twice daily with sterile saline spray. The inner location of the snug means a mist spray reaches both faces of the piercing more effectively than a soaked cotton ball. Never use antiseptics, alcohol or tea tree oil near the snug as any harshness at this delicate location will cause immediate irritation.

Over-ear headphones press directly on the antihelix during healing. Avoid them for the entire healing period. Earbuds are the safer option for audio during this time. Phone calls should be taken on the opposite ear wherever possible. Sleeping on the pierced side causes sustained pressure that is among the most common reasons snug piercings develop persistent bumps or begin to migrate.
